Exceptions like Tim mentioned, of course. But sloppy holds, dropping and readjusting, dropping coming out of water, etc. need to be clean. Although I did once have a FF'd dog drop coming out of the water when a turtle bit him. LOL

Like a bumper landing in goose $h|te?

I was doing the two bumper casting drill and a "back" bumper landed in some shite.

She initially picked it up but that was short lived and she was NOT about to pick it up again.

When I told her to "fetch" she would pick it up again for the briefest of moments and then drop it. I didn't get on her for it. I picked it up, and switched to another bumper to finish the drill.

For the record, her mouth behavior is very good. It gets a little sloppy in hot weather with saliva covered, 3" plastic bumpers, but that's it.
