I was the same way about using food for training. Then I watched Bill Hillmann’s videos and shorts on YouTube.

Let me tell you, TEACHING my pup was never so easy. She was as focused on me as any pup that young could be. She doesn’t require treats for things I’ve already taught and reinforced, but sometimes I still go back to getting her attention with a treat if I’m trying to teach something new.

All I’m saying is that your post seems to indicate she has very little interest in you. Perhaps a piece of kibble in your hand would increase her interest level to where you two can “talk”.

I’m a rookie and would have to agree. Occasionally training with treats worked for me at the beginning. As the bond increased the need for treats seemed to decrease. When, where, and how all are considerations for me.
