Archers first upland hunt.

Postby RShockley » Mon Feb 17, 2020 5:31 pm

Got in a little upland hunting with Archer last week. It was his first time chasing pheasant and chukar. Very different style of hunt than what we are both used to doing. He started off very confused but slowly got the idea of what we were there for. On his first run, we were able to get him on a chukar that was held up against a tree. He seemed a bit confused when it started to run off but was quickly after it flushing it up for a good shot. After that, he seemed to start catching on quicker and actually looking for birds himself. Got him a pheasant later that run and he was able to find a downed pheasant one of the other dogs flushed that landed in some really thick cover. On his second run, he was more aware of what was going on and found 3 chukar. It was a ton of fun and will have to do it again sometime. For now, it is back to training and hunt tests. I always wish I would have gotten more photos or some video afterward but I am pretty bad about doing that.

Good job Archer.

Looks like some good eating! What is your favorite recipe?
