LOL...here’s a question for all you that use your Chessies for upland. Had spaniel and lab prior to getting my first Chessie in 2010. Both my male earlier and especially my current female Sky, seem to catch game farm and wild birds on a regular basis before they fly. Sky caught two wild roosters last year as a one year old during the season. My male did a few as well. Never had the spanial or lab do that. All I can think is they, Chessies, have more of a habit of pushing through the brush with no reguard to being poked or injured while going after the bird? Might be a fluke?

Never had my retrievers catch in but on occasion, my GSP would. Most of the time there was a lot of snow, and the birds would hold super tight. I am working on getting my Chessie to sit on the flush in case I have an anxious gunner who may shoot to close to the dog.
