Rinse or shampoo after water work/fun?

Rinse or shampoo after water work/fun?

Postby jfattiga » Sat Apr 15, 2017 6:03 pm

New CBR owner, wondering if we should rinse or shampoo after having fun in lakes, rivers, ocean etc. Could he contract a fungal or bacterial infection if I don't rinse him off? I know we shouldn't shampoo a CBR too much. Any guidance?

We spray our girls off with fresh water after swimming in salt or brackish water. We also squirt swimmer's solution (1/3 alcohol, 2/3 apple vinegar) in their ears to prevent infections.

Plenty of hot, funky water here in Southwest Louisiana, and my guys have all been bona fide mudhogs:

But we generally just rinse the dirt out with a swim in cleaner water before heading home and haven't had a skin issue in the 30+ years we've had several mucking around down here. Ear infections, which rinsing or bathing wouldn't prevent anyway, have even been very rare. Knock wood...
